Harper's BAZAAR Internship
This summer I had the pleasure of working as a ShopBAZAAR intern at Harper’s Bazaar US. It was the most incredible experience and I feel now that I definitely know what I am looking for in my future career. HB really has it all. Although I was supposed to be in the office and living in New York City, I was so grateful that I was still able to work with them from home remotely. I was still able to connect with the entire team, be a part of the team, and work on some amazing projects.
One of the main things that I worked on this summer was writing copy for social media posts, as well as sourcing imagery for the posts. I sourced photos for Instagram and Facebook and then was given a lot of responsibility with Pinterest and was able to source imagery and write copy, which as super exciting as they have 10 million + monthly viewers and over 5 million followers.
Being able to work on my writing skills was something that was really beneficial to me. I learned a ton about social media and looking at the analytics behind each post. Being able to analyze the work that you put out there is extremely important so that you are able to see what types of posts do well, and which don’t engage your audience.
There are six main boards that I focused on posting on for the Harper’s Bazaar US account: Street Style, Shop at ShopBAZAAR, Amazing Fashion Photos, Beauty & Hair, Celebrity Style, and BAZAAR Covers.
Here is a look at the work that I did for Harper’s Bazaar US Pinterest account during my internship.
Street style was the board that focused my time on the most. Our followers love being able to see what people are actually wearing right now and how they can recreate these looks themselves and the pieces that they should be buying for every season.
Shop at ShopBAZAAR was the next category that I worked on. I sourced a lot of imagery from brand pages and from influencers wearing specific pieces that we sell on ShopBAZAAR. This page is important because the posts link directly to the septic items in the photo.
Amazing fashion photos was a fun category to work on. This category is filled with vintage and retro photos with nostalgic fashions that are coming back in fashion again.
Hair & Beauty highlights all of the beauty trends that are in right now that our followers can try when buying from ShopBAZAAR.
Celebrity Style was one of my favorite boards to work on. Our followers love to see how they can recreate looks from their favorite celebrities.
BAZAAR Covers was the last board that I worked on. This board was fun because I got to write copy for current issues and older, vintage covers.
Overall working for Harper’s Bazaar / ShopBAZAAR was one of the best experiences I have ever had and I feel like my professional journey benefitted from this internship so much. I hope to be able to work with them again in the future.
