Effortless Beach Waves
As spring approaches I have been seeing this beachy, crimped wave look everywhere. Sofia Ritchie does this look all of the time to her hair, and I saw that she was promoting a large barrel crimper, but I wanted this look for myself ASAP and didn’t want to have to buy another hot tool. That’s when I realized this look could be achieved with a flat iron and very minimal time and effort. Here are the few steps it takes to get this look.
I have very straight hair naturally, so this is what my hair looked like when I woke up when I washed it the previous night. The first thing I did was spray this Davines heat protectant in my hair. It is a non-gas spray that also has a little hold while also protecting your hair. I love it!
The next thing that you’re going to want to do is get a clip or a hair tie to be able to section your hair into a top layer and bottom layer. I always do the bottom layer first for ease.
Now here it gets a little technical. So what you’re going to do is get a section and turn the flat iron in, go down and then flip it in the opposite direction. You will continue to do this down the length of your hair. I try to make the ends either flip into my face or leave them straight for a more natural look.
After you have done this to the bottom layer it’s time to do the top layer. I have thicker hair so I separated my top layer into two layers, so you could always do this too if you think it is too thick. The key is to use wide sections of hair, not thick sections.
After you have done all of the sections you are good to go. My hair holds curls pretty well so I didn’t add any additional product, but you could always add a texturizing spray for more hold.
My favorite thing about this look is that it lasts for a super long time. I can go up to five days just using dry shampoo and doing the occasional touch-up on the waves and I can be ready to go for the day.
Here is the finished look!
