In the midst of a global pandemic, it seems as if everyone has decided to come face to face with the artist, chef, and creativity within them. This led to A LOT of tie-dye action taking place. I thought to myself, “No way am I hopping on that bandwagon. That’s all anyone is doing right now.”

In true Virgo fashion I thought it through thoroughly and ultimately convinced myself that It was a good idea to take part in this trend. I thought of three really convincing reasons tie-dye.

  1. Revamping things you already have in your wardrobe is sustainable, so I would really be helping the planet.

  2. If I didn’t do a DIY clothing project I would have to do some online shopping, so I would be financially responsible.

  3. I found dye randomly in my laundry room, which I could only see as a sign from the universe that I was meant to do this project.

I picked out an old Abercrombie & Fitch white t-shirt (that reallllyyyy tells you how old it is) and got to work.

All I did was take the t-shirt and ran it underwater, then I created the pattern I wanted and secured it with rubber bands. Then I diluted the dye with water and covered the shirt with the dye and let it sit for a few hours.

After it had time to sit I washed and dried it I was left with a brand new shirt! I styled this brown tie dye top with these nude joggers from Aritzia and I love how it looks.

xx OK.
